FICUS CARICA (gems) has an elective action on the cortico-diencephalic axis which normalizes the function. The positive action of Ficus carica in gastric disorders confirms the relationships that connect stomach and bark. Being a regulator of the cortico-hypothalamic axis, therefore useful in psychosomatic manifestations with spasmophilia, especially at the gastrointestinal level. Useful in stomach acidity, gastritis, duodenal ulcers, dysphagia. In neurovegetative and psychosomatic disorders or disorders of functional origin at the level of the gastro-duodeno-colic tract. Esophageal dysphagia with motility disorders for achalasia. Gastroduodenitis and related symptoms, (dyspepsia, heartburn, etc.). Gastric secretion disorders both hypo and hyper. Chronic gastritis with iron deficiency anemia. Duodenal ulcer. Esophageal dysphagia and diaphragmatic hernias due to impaired motility. Colitis and sigmoiditis. Useful when ranitidine, cimetidine, famotidine and sleeping pills are being tapered. Surmenage or stress with visceral somatization. It has obtained encouraging results in case of ulcers which are not very sensitive to traditional treatments and in case of relapses. After prolonged treatments, radiological disappearance was observed in 60% of cases treated only with Ficus and 80% of cases with only Ficus associated with other gemmotherapy (Tilia tomentosa and Ribes nigrum). It promotes ulcer healing and helps to regulate the secretion of gastric juice (Fernando Pierà – Compendium of clinical gemmotherapy, De Fabbri editore – GE 2000. Pag. 425-426). TILIA TOMENTOSA (gems) acts on the cortical-hypothalamic axis and on the cross-linked substance by raising the level of serotonin with a calming effect. It is useful in neurovegetative dystonias and functional manifestations of anxiety. Tilia tomentosa then associated with Ribes nigrum and Ficus carica is useful in weaning from Cimetidine and Ranitidine. Useful if associated with ficus carica in esophageal dysphagia and gastralgia, even in spasmophilia. RIBES NIGRUM (buds) is an adrenal stimulant and systemic anti-inflammatory. Mucosal protective and immune stimulant. Useful in gastritis, colitis, dysphagia, hepatitis, pancreatitis. The buds of this plant are effective anti-inflammatories and anti-allergics. The so-called gemmotherapy medicine would exploit the cortisone-like effect of the active ingredients – probably of a steroid nature – contained in significant quantities in the growth tissues of the plant. This is the reason why the buds and shoots are used and immediately transformed in the fresh state to avoid enzymatic degradation.
